  God of love, that hearest prayer, Kindly for Thy people care, Who on Thee alone depend: Love us, save us to the end. Save us, in the prosperous hour, From the flattering tempter’s power, From his unsuspected wiles, From the world’s pernicious smiles. Cut off our dependence vain On the help of feeble man, Every arm of flesh remove; Stay us on Thy only love!   O Thou that hearest prayer, Attend our humble cry, And let Thy servants share Thy blessing from on high: We plead the promise of Thy Word; Grant us Thy Holy Spirit, Lord. If earthly parents hear Their children when they cry, If they, with love sincere, Their children’s wants supply, Much more wilt Thou Thy love display, And answer when Thy children pray.
