  My soul in sad exile was out on life’s sea, So burdened with sin and distressed, Till I heard a sweet voice, saying, “Make Me your choice”; And I entered the “Haven of Rest”! Refrain I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,” I’ll sail the wide seas no more; The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep, In Jesus I’m safe evermore. I yielded myself to His tender embrace, In faith taking hold of the Word, My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul; The “Haven of Rest” is my Lord.   I know not if or dark or bright Shall be my lot; If that wherein my hopes delight Be best or not. It may be mine to drag for years Toil’s heavy chain, Or day and night my meat be tears On bed of pain. Dear faces may surround my health With smiles and glee, Or I may dwell alone, and mirth Be strange to me.   Adrift on the waters, so dark and so cold, Afar from the beautiful city of gold, A vessel is sinking, for heavy the gale, The cable is broken, and tattered each sail. • [Mat 8:26] I Feel The Winds Of God Today

  I feel the winds of God today; today my sail I lift, Though heavy, oft with drenching spray, and torn with many a rift; If hope but light the water’s crest, and Christ my bark will use, I’ll seek the seas at His behest, and brave another cruise. It is the wind of God that dries my vain regretful tears, Until with braver thoughts shall rise the purer, brighter years; If cast on shores of selfish ease or pleasure I should be; Lord, let me feel Thy freshening breeze, and I’ll put back to sea. If ever I forget Thy love and how that love was shown, Lift high the blood red flag above; it bears Thy Name alone. Great Pilot of my onward way, Thou wilt not let me drift; I feel the winds of God today, today my sail I lift.
