22:25 You are the reason I offer praise ¹  in the great assembly;

Psalms 137:8

137:8 O daughter Babylon, soon to be devastated! ¹¹

[22:25]  ² tn Heb “my vows I will fulfill before those who fear him.” When asking the Lord for help, the psalmists would typically promise to praise the Lord publicly if he intervened and delivered them.

[38:20]  ³ tn Heb “the ones who repay evil instead of good accuse me, instead of my pursuing good.”

[61:8]  ⁶ tn Or perhaps, “and thereby fulfill.” The preposition with the infinitive construct here indicates an accompanying circumstance.

[65:1]  ⁹ sn Psalm 65. The psalmist praises God because he forgives sin and blesses his people with an abundant harvest.

[65:1]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “for you, silence, praise.” Many prefer to emend the noun דֻּמִיָּה (dumiyyah, “silence”) to a participle דּוֹמִיָּה (domiyyah), from the root דָּמָה (damah, “be silent”), understood here in the sense of “wait.”

[76:11]  ¹¹ tn The phrase “all those who surround him” may refer to the surrounding nations (v. 12 may favor this), but in Ps 89:7 the phrase refers to God’s heavenly assembly.

[137:8]  ¹³ tn Heb “O devastated daughter of Babylon.” The psalmist dramatically anticipates Babylon’s demise.

[137:8]  ¹⁴ tn Heb “O the happiness of the one who repays you your wage which you paid to us.”
