Psalms 16:1-2
-
[Psa 16:1] God, Keep Me Safe
God, keep me safe; in You I refuge take.
You are my Lord; I have no good elsewhere.
The hearts of all idolaters will ache;
In all their sacrifices I’ll not share.Lord, my inheritance You have assigned;
You guard what’s mine and make me feel secure.
Your boundary lines are pleasant to my mind;
Your future blessings will bring joy for sure.Lord, I will praise You for Your counsel wise;
Even at night my heart tells me Your way.
I’ll always set You first before my eyes;
You’re right beside me; I won’t be afraid.My heart is glad; my tongue rejoices e’er;
I know You will not leave me when I die.
The path of life to me You will declare;
You’ll fill me with eternal joy on high.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 16:1] O God, Preserve Me
O God, preserve me, for in Thee
Alone my trust has stood;
My soul has said, Thou art my Lord,
My chief and only good.I love Thy saints, who fear Thy Name,
And walk as in Thy sight;
They are the excellent of earth,
In them is my delight.Their sorrows shall be multiplied
Who worship aught but Thee;
I share not in their offerings,
Nor join their company.The Lord is mine inheritance,
The Lord alone remains
The fullness of my cup of bliss;
The Lord my lot maintains.The lines are fallen unto me
In places large and fair;
A goodly heritage is mine,
Marked out with gracious care.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 16:1] Preserve Me, Lord
Preserve me, Lord, in time of need;
For succor to Thy throne I flee,
But have no merits there to plead:
My goodness cannot reach to Thee.Oft have my heart and tongue confessed
How empty and how poor I am;
My praise can never make Thee blessed,
Nor add new glories to Thy Name.Yet, Lord, Thy saints on earth may reap
Some profit by the good we do;
These are the company I keep,
These are the choicest friends I know.Let others choose the songs of mirth
To give a relish to their wine;
I love the men of heav’nly birth,
Whose thoughts and language are divine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 16:1] To Thee, O Lord, I Fly
To Thee, O Lord, I fly
And on Thy help depend;
Thou art my Lord and King most high;
Do Thou my soul defend.
A heritage for me
Jehovah will remain;
My portion rich and full is He,
My right He will maintain.The lot to me that fell
Is beautiful and fair;
The heritage in which I dwell
Is good beyond compare.
I praise the Lord above
Whose counsel guides aright;
My heart instructs me in His love
In seasons of the night.I keep before me still
The Lord Whom I have proved;
At my right hand He guards from ill,
And I shall not be moved.
Life’s pathway Thou wilt show,
To Thy right hand wilt guide,
Where streams of pleasure ever flow,
And boundless joys abide.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 16:2] Oh To Be Over Yonder
Oh to be over yonder,
In that bright land of wonder,
Where the angel voices mingle, and
The angel harps do ring!
To be free from care and sorrow,
And the anxious dread tomorrow,
To rest in light and sunshine in
The presence of the King!Refrain
Oh to be over yonder!
In that land of wonder,
There to be forever
In the presence of the King!Oh to be over yonder!
My longing heart grows fonder
Of looking to the far off east,
To see the daystar bring
Some tidings of th’awaking—
Of the cloudless, pure day breaking,
My heart is yearning—yearning for
The coming of the King!Refrain
Oh to be over yonder!
Alas! I sigh and ponder—
Why clings this poor, weak heart of mine
To any earthly thing?
For each earthly tie must sever,
And pass away forever:
There’s no more separation in
The presence of the King!Refrain
Oh, when shall I be dwelling
Where angel voices, swelling
In triumphant hallelujahs, make
The vaulted heavens ring—
Where the pearly gates are gleaming,
And the Morning Star is beaming?
O when shall I be yonder in
The presence of the King?Refrain
Oh, when shall I be yonder?
The longing groweth stronger
To join in all the praises the
Redeemèd ones do sing.
Within those heavenly places,
Where the angels veil their faces,
In awe and adoration, in
The presence of the King!Refrain
Oh, I shall soon be yonder,
And lonely as I wander,
Yearning for the welcome summer—
Longing for the bird’s fleet wing,
The midnight may be dreary,
And the heart be worn and weary,
But there’s no more shadow yonder,
In the presence of the King.Refrain

[Psa 20:5] Carry The Standard Bravely
Carry the standard bravely
Into the world’s great field;
Never desert our army,
Never give up our shield.Refrain
Onward, onward, onward!
Cheerily, cheerily sing;
O carry the standard bravely
For Christ, the Lord, our King;
O carry the standard bravely
For Christ, the Lord, our King.Carry the standard firmly,
Bear it where’er we go;
Wave it in youth’s bright morning,
Love for the Lord to show.Refrain
Carry the standard nobly,
Asking for aid divine;
Praying for light and wisdom
Over the path to shine.Refrain

[Psa 20:5] Royal Banners Forward Go, The
The royal banners forward go,
The cross shines forth in mystic glow;
Where He in flesh, our flesh Who made,
Our sentence bore, our ransom paid.Where deep for us the spear was dyed,
Life’s torrent rushing from His side,
To wash us in that precious flood,
Where mingled water flowed, and blood.Fulfilled is all that David told
In true prophetic song of old,
Amidst the nations, God, saith he,
Hath reigned and triumphed from the tree.O tree of beauty, tree of light!
O tree with royal purple dight!
Elect on whose triumphal breast
Those holy limbs should find their rest.Blest tree, whose chosen branches bore
The wealth that did the world restore,
The price of humankind to pay,
And spoil the spoiler of his prey.Upon its arms, like balance true,
He weighed the price for sinners due,
The price which none but He could pay,
And spoiled the spoiler of his prey.O cross, our one reliance, hail!
Still may thy power with us avail
To give new virtue to the saint,
And pardon to the penitent.To Thee, eternal Three in One,
Let homage meet by all be done:
As by the cross Thou dost restore,
So rule and guide us evermore.Play source: Cyberhymnal
Hebrews 5:7
-
[Heb 5:7] Our Blessèd Savior Seven Times Spoke
Our blessèd Savior sev’n times spoke
When on the cross our sins He took
And died lest men should perish.
Let us His last and dying words
In our remembrance cherish.“Father, forgive these men; for, lo,
They truly know not what they do.”
So far His love extended.
Forgive us, Lord, for we, too, have
Through ignorance offended.Now to the contrite thief He cries:
“Thou, verily, in Paradise
Shall meet Me ere tomorrow.”
Lord, take us to Thy kingdom soon
Who linger here in sorrow.To weeping Mary, standing by,
“Behold thy Son,” now hear Him cry;
To John, “Behold thy mother.”
Provide, O Lord, for those we leave;
Let each befriend the other.The Savior’s fourth word was “I thirst.”
O mighty Prince of Life, Thy thirst
For us and our salvation
Is truly great; do help us, then,
That we escape damnation.The fifth, “My God, My God, O why
Forsake Me?” Hark, the awful cry!
Lord, Thou wast here forsaken
That we might be received on high;
Let this hope not be shaken.The sixth, when victory was won,
“’Tis finished!” for Thy work was done.
Grant, Lord, that, onward pressing,
We may the work Thou dost impose
Fulfill with Thine own blessing.The last, as woe and sufferings end,
“O God, My Father, I commend
Into Thy hands My Spirit.”
Be this, dear Lord, my dying wish;
O heavenly Father, hear it.Whoe’er, by sense of sin oppressed,
Upon these words his thoughts will rest,
He joy and hope obtaineth
And through God’s love and boundless grace
A peaceful conscience gaineth.O Jesus Christ, Thou Crucified,
Who hast for our offenses died,
Grant that we e’er may ponder
Thy wounds, Thy cross, Thy bitter death,
Both here below and yonder.Play source: Cyberhymnal
