Revelation 8:10-12

8:10 Then ¹  the third angel blew his trumpet, and a huge star burning like a torch fell from the sky; ²  it landed ³  on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. 8:11 (Now ⁴  the name of the star is ⁵  Wormwood.) ⁶  So ⁷  a third of the waters became wormwood, ⁸  and many people died from these waters because they were poisoned. ⁹ 

8:12 Then ¹⁰  the fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. And there was no light for a third of the day ¹¹  and for a third of the night likewise.

Revelation 9:1

9:1 Then ¹²  the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky ¹³  to the earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the abyss. ¹⁴ 

Ezekiel 32:7

32:7 When I extinguish you, I will cover the sky;

I will darken its stars.

I will cover the sun with a cloud,

Daniel 8:10

[8:10]  ¹⁶ tn Traditionally, “host.” The term refers to God’s heavenly angelic assembly, which he sometimes leads into battle as an army.

[8:10]  ¹⁷ sn In prescientific Israelite thinking the stars were associated with the angelic members of God’s heavenly assembly. See Judg 5:20; Job 38:7; Isa 40:26. In west Semitic mythology the stars were members of the high god’s divine assembly (see Isa 14:13).

[21:25]  ¹⁸ sn Signs in the sun and moon and stars are cosmic signs that turn our attention to the end and the Son of Man’s return for the righteous. OT imagery is present: See Isa 13:9-10; 24:18-20; 34:4; Ezek 32:7-8; Joel 2:1, 30-31; 3:15.

[21:25]  ¹⁹ tn Grk “distress of nations.”
