[9:3]  1 tn Or “For I would pray.” The implied condition is “if this could save my fellow Jews.”

[9:3]  2 tn Grk “brothers.” See BDAG 18-19 s.v. ἀδελφός 2.b.

[9:3]  3 tn Grk “my kinsmen according to the flesh.”

[15:28]  4 tc Most later mss add 15:28 “And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘He was counted with the lawless ones.’” Verse 28 is included in L Θ 083 0250 Ë1,13 33 Ï lat, but is lacking in important Alexandrian and Western mss and some others (א A B C D Ψ pc). The addition of the verse with its quotation from Isa 53:12 probably represents a scribal assimilation from Luke 22:37. It was almost certainly not an original part of Mark’s Gospel. The present translation follows NA27 in omitting the verse number, a procedure also followed by a number of other modern translations.

[9:24]  5 tn Grk “they called.”

[9:24]  6 tn Grk “who was blind.”

[9:24]  7 tn Grk “Give glory to God” (an idiomatic formula used in placing someone under oath to tell the truth).

[9:24]  8 tn The phrase “this man” is a reference to Jesus.
