[2:6]  1 tn Or “this noise.”

[2:6]  2 tn Or “was bewildered.”

[2:46]  3 tn BDAG 437 s.v. ἡμέρα 2.c has “every day” for this phrase.

[2:46]  4 tn Grk “in the temple.” This is actually a reference to the courts surrounding the temple proper, and has been translated accordingly.

[2:46]  5 tn Here κατά (kata) is used as a distributive (BDAG 512 s.v. B.1.d).

[2:46]  6 sn The term glad (Grk “gladness”) often refers to joy brought about by God’s saving acts (Luke 1:14, 44; also the related verb in 1:47; 10:21).

[2:46]  7 tn Grk “with gladness and humbleness of hearts.” It is best to understand καρδίας (kardias) as an attributed genitive, with the two nouns it modifies actually listing attributes of the genitive noun which is related to them.

[7:27]  5 tn Or “repudiated Moses,” “rejected Moses” (BDAG 126-27 s.v. ἀπωθέω 2).

[7:27]  6 tn Grk “him”; the referent (Moses) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[7:27]  7 tn Or “appointed.”

[11:16]  7 sn The word of the Lord is a technical expression in OT literature, often referring to a divine prophetic utterance (e.g., Gen 15:1, Isa 1:10, Jonah 1:1). In the NT it occurs 15 times: 3 times as ῥῆμα τοῦ κυρίου (rJhma tou kuriou; here and in Luke 22:61, 1 Pet 1:25) and 12 times as λόγος τοῦ κυρίου (logo" tou kuriou; Acts 8:25; 13:44, 48, 49; 15:35, 36; 16:32; 19:10, 20; 1 Thess 1:8, 4:15; 2 Thess 3:1). As in the OT, this phrase focuses on the prophetic nature and divine origin of what has been said.

[11:16]  8 tn The imperfect verb ἔλεγεν (elegen) is taken as a customary imperfect.

[11:16]  9 sn John…Spirit. This remark repeats Acts 1:5.

[20:19]  9 sn On humility see 2 Cor 10:1; 11:7; 1 Thess 2:6; Col 3:12; Eph 4:2; Phil 2:3-11.

[20:19]  10 sn These plots are mentioned in Acts 9:24; 20:13.

[20:31]  11 tn Or “be watchful.”

[20:31]  12 tn Or “admonishing.”

[28:22]  13 tn Grk “regarding this sect it is known to us.” The passive construction “it is known to us” has been converted to an active one to simplify the translation.

[28:22]  14 tn Grk “that everywhere it is spoken against.” To simplify the translation the passive construction “it is spoken against” has been converted to an active one with the subject “people” supplied.

[28:22]  15 tn On the term translated “speak against,” see BDAG 89 s.v. ἀντιλέγω 1.
