John 1:43

[Joh 1:43] Behold, The Master Passeth By
Behold, the Master passeth by!
O seest thou not His pleading eye?
With low sad voice He calleth thee,
“Leave this vain world, and follow Me.”O soul, bowed down with harrowing care,
Hast thou no thought for Heaven to spare?
From earthly toils lift up thine eye;
Behold, the Master passeth by!One heard Him calling long ago,
And straightway left all things below
Counting his earthly gain as loss
For Jesus and His blessèd cross.That “Follow Me” his faithful ear
Seemed every day afresh to hear;
Its echoes stirred his spirit still,
And fired his hope, and nerved his will.God gently calls us every day:
Why should we then our bliss delay?
Thou, Lord, e’en now art calling me;
I will leave all, and follow Thee.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 1:43] I Love To Walk With Jesus
O I love to walk with Jesus
Like the publicans of old,
When He gathered them about Him
And the blessèd tidings told;
How He came to bring deliverance
To the captives in distress,
Take away our ev’ry burden,
Giving perfect peace and rest.Refrain
I will follow where He leadeth;
I will pasture where He feedeth.
I will follow all the way, Lord.
I will follow Jesus ev’ry day.O I love to walk with Jesus
Like the man of long ago
Who had tarried by the wayside
Near the gates of Jericho,
Jesus heard his cry for mercy,
Gave him back his sight that day,
And immediately he followed
Jesus all along the way.Refrain
O I love to walk with Jesus
All the way to Calv’ry’s brow,
Gaze upon that scene of suffering
While my tears of sorrow flow.
There He tells me how He loves me—
Takes my ev’ry sin away;
So I follow Him so gladly,
Lead me anywhere He may.Refrain
O sometime I’ll walk with Jesus
In that land of endless day,
When our journey here is over
And we’ve reached our home to stay.
Then I’ll walk with him forever,
Sing His praises o’er and o’er,
And with all the saints in glory
Love, and worship, and adore.Refrain

[Joh 1:43] Light Of God Is Falling, The
The light of God is falling,
Upon life’s common way;
The Master’s voice is calling,
“Come, walk with Me today”;
No duty can seem lowly
To him who lives with Thee,
And all of life grows holy,
O Christ of Galilee!Who shares his life’s pure pleasures,
And walks the honest road,
Who trades with heaping measures,
And lifts his brother’s load,
Who turns the wrong down bluntly,
And lends the right a hand,
He dwells in God’s own country,
He tills the Holy Land.Where human lives are thronging
In toil and pain and sin,
While cloistered hearts are longing
To bring the kingdom in,
O Christ, the elder Brother
Of proud and beaten men,
When they have found each other,
The kingdom will come then!Thy ransomed host in glory,
All souls that sin and pray,
Turn toward the cross that bore Thee;
“Behold the Man!” they say;
And while Thy church is pleading
For all who would do good,
We hear Thy true voice leading
Our song of brotherhood.Play source: Cyberhymnal
John 10:9

[Joh 10:9] Jesus Opened Up The Way
Jesus Christ the Lord opened up the way to glory
When He died to save us from our ruined state,
And He asks that we shall go tell the world the story,
How His blood will save them from their awful fate.Refrain
Jesus opened up the way to heaven’s gate
When He died on the cross,
To redeem all the lost;
He prepared the road that leads
To His abode,
’Tis a road marked by blood
But it leads us home to God.And the way is marked by the footprints of the Savior,
With His blood he made it, made it plain and straight;
If you walk that way, it will lead you into heaven,
Lead you safely into glory’s golden gate.Refrain
Sinner, will you come and join in this heav’nly journey,
Walk the bloody pathway that the Savior trod;
Then when life is over and all the sheaves are garnered,
You will meet the Savior and be not afraid.Refrain

John 16:30

[Joh 16:30] Thou Knowest, Lord
Thou knowest, Lord, the weariness and sorrow
Of the sad heart that comes to Thee for rest;
Cares of today, and burdens for tomorrow,
Blessings implored, and sins to be confessed;
I come before Thee at Thy gracious word,
And lay them at Thy feet: Thou knowest, Lord.Thou knowest all the present: each temptation,
Each toilsome duty, each foreboding fear;
All to myself assigned of tribulation,
Or to belovèd ones than self more dear;
All pensive memories, as I journey on,
Longings for vanished smiles and voices gone.Thou knowest all the future: gleams of gladness
By stormy clouds too quickly overcast;
Hours of sweet fellowship, and parting sadness,
And the dark river to be crossed at last;
O what could confidence and hope afford
To tread that path, but this, Thou knowest, Lord!Thou knowest, not alone as God, all knowing;
As man, our mortal weakness Thou has proved:
On earth, with purest sympathies o’erflowing,
O Savior, Thou hast wept, and Thou hast loved;
And love and sorrow still to Thee may come,
And find a hiding place, a rest, a home.Therefore I come, Thy gentle call obeying,
And lay my sins and sorrows at Thy feet;
On everlasting Strength my weakness staying,
Clothed in Thy robe of righteousness complete:
Then rising and refreshed I leave Thy throne,
And follow on to know as I am known.Play source: Cyberhymnal
John 19:4-5

[Joh 19:5] O Sinner, Lift The Eye Of Faith
O sinner, lift the eye of faith,
To true repentance turning;
Bethink thee of the curse of sin,
Its awful guilt discerning;
Upon the Crucified One look,
And thou shalt read, as in a book,
What well is worthy thy learning.Look on His head, that bleeding head,
With crown of thorns surrounded;
Look on His sacred hands and feet
Which piercing nails have wounded;
See every limb with scourges rent:
On Him, the Just, the Innocent,
What malice hath abounded!’Tis not alone those limbs are racked,
But friends, too, are forsaking;
And, more than all, for thankless man
That tender heart is aching;
Oh, fearful was the pain and scorn,
By Jesus, Son of Mary, borne,
Their peace for sinners making.None ever knew such pain before,
Such infinite affliction,
None ever felt a grief like His
In that dread crucifixion;
For us He bare those bitter throes,
For us those agonizing woes,
In oft renewed infliction.O sinner, mark, and ponder well
Sin’s awful condemnation;
Think what a sacrifice it cost
To purchase Thy salvation;
Had Jesus never bled and died,
Then what could thee and all betide
But uttermost damnation?Lord, give us grace to flee from sin,
And Satan’s wiles ensnaring,
And from those everlasting flames
For evil ones preparing.
Jesu, we thank Thee, and entreat
To rest forever at Thy feet,
Thy heavenly glory sharing.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Joh 19:5] Ye That Pass By, Behold The Man
Ye that pass by, behold the Man,
The Man of grief condemned for you;
The Lamb of God for sinners slain
Weeping to Calvary pursue.His sacred limbs, they stretch, they tear,
With nails they fasten to the wood—
His sacred limbs exposed and bare,
Or only covered with His blood.See there! His temples crowned with thorns,
His bleeding hands extended wide;
His streaming feet transfixed and torn,
The fountain gushing from His side.Thou dear, Thou suff’ring Son of God,
How doth Thy heart to sinners move!
Sprinkle on us Thy precious blood,
And melt us with Thy dying love.Play source: Cyberhymnal
