Exodus 19:1--40:38
-
[Exo 19:5] Being His
His oceans all rumble and batter His shore,
But He will be new when its waves are no more.
His mountains reach skyward to touch His sweet face;
His forests burst forth as He showers their place.The mighty Leviathan leaps in His seas,
The eagle mounts up on the joy of His breeze.
The creatures of earth borrow life from His hand,
Their days are all numbered by His firm command.Eternity springs from His Infinite Mind—
All time and all space from His fingers unwind,
His intricate, limitless, unbounded skill
Spins threads of His sovereign, inscrutable will.The thunder of Sinai resounds in our ears,
The judgment of God stirs the deepest of fears!
But, awesome and wondrous—more staggering still—
The flashes of lightning from Calvary’s hill!But O! How mighty, how perfect, how free,
How blessèd, how precious, how lovely is He!
And O! How grand, and how sweet to behold
The trophies of grace He has won from of old!A radiant triumph illumines His face!
He strides to His throne, the Colossus of Grace!
He sits, and His Father proclaims Him True Son!
His strife is now over; His battle is done.We bow, we adore, we fall down at His throne,
He gathers us into His arms as His own!
He seats us in glory beside Him above,
To crown His achievement with splendors of love!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 19:5] Great God, The Nations Of The Earth
Great God, the nations of the earth,
Are by creation Thine;
And in Thy works, by all beheld,
Thy radiant glories shine.But, Lord, Thy greater love has sent
Thy Gospel to mankind,
Unveiling what rich stores of grace
Are treasured in Thy mind.When, Lord, shall these glad tidings spread
The spacious earth around,
Till every tribe and every soul
Shall hear the joyful sound?Smile, Lord, on each divine attempt
To spread the Gospel’s rays,
And build on sin’s demolished throne
The temples of Thy praise.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 19:5] Lord Of The Lands
Lord of the lands, beneath Thy bending skies,
On field and flood, where’er our banner flies,
Thy people lift their hearts to Thee,
Their grateful voices raise:
May our dominion ever be
A temple to Thy praise.
Thy will alone let all enthrone;Refrain
Lord of the lands, make Canada Thine own:

That no oppression blights,
Where justice rules from shore to shore,
From lakes to northern lights.

Lord of the worlds, with strong eternal hand,
Hold us in honor, truth and self-command;
The loyal heart, the constant mind,
The courage to be true,
Our wide extending empire bind,
And all the earth renew.

[Exo 19:18] Lord Of Might From Sinai’s Brow, The
The Lord of might from Sinai’s brow
Gave forth His voice of thunder;
And Israel lay on earth below,
Outstretched in fear and wonder;
Beneath His feet was pitchy night,
And at His left hand, and His right,
The rocks were rent asunder.The Lord of love, on Calvary,
A meek and suffering Stranger,
Upraised to heaven His languid eye,
In nature’s hour of danger;
For us, He bore the weight of woe,
For us, He gave His blood to flow,
And met His Father’s anger.The Lord of love, the Lord of might,
The King of all created,
Shall back return to claim His right,
On clouds of glory seated;
With trumpet sound and angel song,
And hallelujahs loud and long,
O’er death and hell defeated.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 19:18] Not To The Terrors Of The Lord
Not to the terrors of the Lord,
The tempest, fire, and smoke;
Not to the thunder of that word
Which God on Sinai spoke;But we are come to Sion’s hill,
The city of our God,
Where milder words declare His will,
And spread His love abroad.Behold th’innumerable host
Of angels clothed in light!
Behold the spirits of the just,
Whose faith is turned to sight!Behold the blessed assembly there
Whose names are writ in Heav’n!
And God, the Judge of all, declares
Their vilest sins forgiv’n.The saints on earth and all the dead
But one communion make;
All join in Christ their living Head,
And of His grace partake.In such society as this
My weary soul would rest:
The man that dwells where Jesus is
Must be forever blessed.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:1] Another Six Days’ Work Is Done
Another six days’ work is done
Another Sabbath is begun;
Return, my soul, enjoy thy rest,
Improve the day that God hath blest.Come, praise the Lord, whose love assigns
So sweet a rest to weary minds;
Provides an antepast of Heaven
And gives this day the food of seven.O that our thoughts and thanks may rise
As grateful incense to the skies!
And draw from Heaven that sweet repose
Which none but he who feels it knows.A heavenly calm pervades the breast
Is the dear pledge of glorious rest,
Which for the Church of God remains,
The end of cares, the end of pains.With joy, great God, Thy works we view,
In various scenes, both old and new;
With praise we think on mercies past,
With hope we future pleasure taste.In holy duties let the day,
In holy comforts pass away;
The Sabbath thus we love to spend,
In hope of one which ne’er shall end.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:1] Hail, Happy Morning
Hail happy morning, hail, holy day,

Sing once more the happy, happy song,
While the golden moments roll along,
“Come to the temple, come, come away,
Hallow the Sabbath day.”Emblem of heaven, sweet day of rest,
In thy “remembrance,” may we be blessed.
So may our songs and lives ever say,
“Hallow the Sabbath day.”Refrain
Rest from our labors, rest from our cares,
Rest in our praises, rest in our prayers,
So the commandment would we obey,
“Hallow the Sabbath day.”Refrain

[Exo 20:1] Safely Through Another Week
Safely through another week God has brought us on our way;
Let us now a blessing seek, on th’approaching Sabbath day;
Day of all the week the best, emblem of eternal rest,
Day of all the week the best, emblem of eternal rest.Mercies multiplied each hour through the week our praise demand;
Guarded by almighty power, fed and guided by His hand;
Though ungrateful we have been, only made returns of sin,
Though ungrateful we have been, only made returns of sin.While we pray for pardoning grace, through the dear Redeemer’s Name,
Show Thy reconciled face, shine away our sin and shame;
From our worldly cares set free, may we rest this night with Thee,
From our worldly cares set free, may we rest this night with Thee.Here we come Thy Name to praise, let us feel Thy presence near,
May Thy glory meet our eyes, while we in Thy house appear:
Here afford us, Lord, a taste of our everlasting feast,
Here afford us, Lord, a taste of our everlasting feast.When the morn shall bid us rise, may we feel Thy presence near:
May Thy glory meet our eyes, when we in Thy house appear:
There afford us, Lord, a taste of our everlasting feast,
There afford us, Lord, a taste of our everlasting feast.May Thy Gospel’s joyful sound conquer sinners, comfort saints;
May the fruits of grace abound, bring relief for all complaints;
Thus may all our Sabbaths prove till we join the church above,
Thus may all our Sabbaths prove till we join the church above!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:1] Welcome, Delightful Morn
Welcome, delightful morn,
Thou day of sacred rest!
I hail thy kind return;
Lord, make these moments blest;
From the low train of mortal toys,
I soar to reach immortal joys,
I soar to reach immortal joys.Now may the King descend,
And fill His throne with grace;
Thy scepter, Lord, extend,
While saints address Thy face:
Let sinners feel Thy quickening Word,
And learn to know and fear the Lord,
And learn to know and fear the Lord.Descend, celestial Dove,
With all Thy quickening powers;
Disclose a Savior’s love,
And bless the sacred hours:
Then shall my soul new life obtain,
Nor Sabbaths be enjoyed in vain,
Nor Sabbaths be enjoyed in vain.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

To breathe the humble, fervent prayer
And pour the grateful song.Spirit of grace, O deign to dwell

With pure devotion glow.Let peace within her walls be found;
Let all her sons unite;
To spread with grateful zeal around
Her clear and shining light.Great God, we hail the sacred day
Which Thou hast called Thine own;
With joy the summons we obey
To worship at Thy throne.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:2] That Man A Godly Life Might Live
That man a godly life might live,

Upon the Mount Sinai.

No other God before Me own;
Put thy whole confidence in Me
And love Me e’er cordially.

Take not My holy Name in vain
And praise but that as good and true
Which I Myself say and do.
Have mercy, Lord!Hallow the day which God hath blest
That thou and all thy house may rest;
Keep hand and heart from labor free
That God may so work in thee.
Have mercy, Lord!Give to thy parents honor due,
Be dutiful, and loving, too,
And help them when their strength decays,
So shalt thou have length of days.
Have mercy, Lord!Kill thou not out of evil will,
Nor hate, nor render ill for ill;
Be patient and of gentle mood,
And to thy foe do thou good.
Have mercy, Lord.Be faithful to thy marriage vows,
Thy heart give only to thy spouse;
Thy life keep pure, and lest thou sin,
Use temperance and discipline.
Have mercy, Lord!Steal not; oppressive acts abhor;
Nor wring their life blood from the poor;
But open wide thy loving hand
To all the poor in the land.
Have mercy, Lord.Bear not false witness nor belie
Thy neighbor by foul calumny.
Defend his innocence from blame;
With charity hide his shame.
Have mercy, Lord!Thy neighbor’s house desire thou not,
His wife, nor aught that he hath got,
But wish that his such good may be
As thy heart doth wish for thee.
Have mercy, Lord!God these commandments gave therein
To show thee, child of man, thy sin
And make thee also well perceive
How man unto God should live.
Have mercy, Lord!Help us, Lord Jesus Christ, for we
A Mediator have in Thee.
Our works cannot salvation gain;
They merit but endless pain.
Have mercy, Lord!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:8] Don’t Forget The Sabbath
Don’t forget the Sabbath,
The Lord our God hath blest,
Of all the week the brightest,
Of all the week the best;
It brings repose from labor,
It tells of joy divine,
Its beams of light descending,
With heav’nly beauty shine.Refrain
Welcome, welcome, ever welcome,
Blessèd Sabbath day,
Welcome, welcome, ever welcome,
Blessèd Sabbath day.Keep the Sabbath holy,
And worship Him today,
Who said to His disciples,
“I am the living Way”;
And if we meekly follow
Our Savior here below,
He’ll give us of the fountain
Whose streams eternal flow.Refrain
Day of sacred pleasure!
Its golden hours we’ll spend
In thankful hymns to Jesus,
The children’s dearest Friend;
O gentle, loving, Savior,
How good and kind Thou art,
How precious is Thy promise
To dwell in every heart!Refrain

[Exo 20:8] In God’s Most Holy Presence
In God’s most holy presence we meet with one accord,
To grasp the hand of friendship and learn of Christ, our Lord.
We leave the week behind us, with all its toil and strain,
With grateful hearts to welcome the Sabbath once again.Our worship will be fruitless and all our prayers in vain,
If, holding this day sacred, we make the week profane.
In every daily duty, high purpose we must show,
And as we hope for Heaven, make earth a heav’n below.If we but love Thee truly, our love is not confined
To Thee, but grows expansive, embracing all mankind.
Help us in mutual service for all, abroad, at home,
To share the conquering travail that makes Thy kingdom come.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:8] Sabbath Day
Sabbath day of rest and cheer!
Day divine, to me so dear!
Come, O come to old and young,
Gath’ring all for prayer and song.Now the week of toil is o’er,
And in peace we sit once more
At our Father’s ample board,
Listening to His gracious Word.Lord, our God, we seek Thy face,
Bless us with Thy saving grace;
May Thy heralds everywhere
Clear Thy Gospel truth declare.Let Thy mighty Word hold sway
Over men on earth today;
Our poor souls, good Shepherd, feed,
Into pastures green us lead.May, O Lord, the day be near,
When we pass from trials here
Into Thine eternal rest,
In the mansions of the blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] Beautiful Sabbath
Beautiful Sabbath, how peaceful the light,
Wafted from Eden so tranquil and bright;
Drawing us nearer to Jesus our King,
While in His temple we gather and sing.Refrain
Beautiful Sabbath of rest, sweet rest,
Beautiful Sabbath, divinely blest,
Youthful and happy the hearts we bring,
Praising our gracious Redeemer and King.Beautiful Sabbath, we hallow the hours,
Silently bearing the odor of flowers;
Planted in gardens that never decay,
Blooming in sunshine that fades not away.Refrain
Beautiful Sabbath, when Jesus our Lord
Bids us devoutly remember His Word;
Opens its treasures of wisdom so dear,
Treasures that sparkle our young hearts to cheer.Refrain
Beautiful Sabbath, when labor and care
Yield to the rapture of song and of prayer;
Precious the moments that now from above,
Tenderly whisper a message of love.Refrain

[Exo 20:10] Blest Day Of God, Most Calm, Most Bright
Blest day of God, most calm, most bright,
The first, the best of days;
The laborer’s rest, the saint’s delight,
The day of prayer and praise.My Savior’s face made thee to shine;
His rising thee did raise;
And made thee heavenly and divine
Beyond all other days.The first-fruits oft a blessing prove
To all the sheaves behind;
And they the day of Christ who love,
A happy week shall find.This day I must with God appear;
For, Lord, the day is Thine;
Help me to spend it in Thy fear,
And thus to make it mine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] Come, Let Us All With One Accord
Come, let us all with one accord
Adore and magnify the Lord,
And festive service pay.On this the day that God hath blest,
The day of peace and heavenly rest,
The Lord’s own holy day.That saw primeval darkness break,
And that more glorious life awake
That lasteth evermore.That saw hell’s legions prostrate fall,
And Christ, triumphant over all,
His own to heaven restore.This day the peace that flows from heaven
Was unto the Apostles given,
When doors were closed at night.This day the Holy Spirit’s flame
Upon the Church’s teachers came,
And filled their souls with light.Still on this day with trumpet sound
The Gospel notes were ringing round,
To call the world to pray.Then on this day let us adore
Our God and supplication pour,
That, when worlds pass away,Through Christ’s dear grace our souls may rest
In peace and joy, forever blest,
Till the great Judgment Day.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] Dear Sabbath Home
Hark, hark the song, gliding along,
Borne on the summer breeze, far, far away;
Dear Sabbath home, once more we come,
Hailing with glad delight this happy day;
Eyes beaming brightly, hearts bounding lightly,
Now we sing our merry, merry lay.Refrain
Dear Sabbath home, once more we come,
Hailing with glad delight this happy day.Green shady bowers, sweet blushing flowers,
Come with the summer time, blooming anew;
Morn’s gentle ray, golden and gay,
Shines on the lily-bells sparkling with dew;
Beauty is calling, music is falling,
Now again earth wakes her joyful lay.Refrain
Hark, hark the song, floating along,
Borne to the sunny land fadeless and fair;
Savior and King, gladly we bring
Praise for Thy precious love, Thy tender care;
Gathered before Thee, young hearts adore Thee,
Savior, hear, O hear our happy lay.Refrain

[Exo 20:10] Hail, Happy Morning
Hail happy morning, hail, holy day,
Calling from earthly labors away,
Sweet words of wisdom, glad songs of joy,
Now be our best employ.Refrain

While the golden moments roll along,
“Come to the temple, come, come away,
Hallow the Sabbath day.”Emblem of heaven, sweet day of rest,
In thy “remembrance,” may we be blessed.
So may our songs and lives ever say,
“Hallow the Sabbath day.”Refrain
Rest from our labors, rest from our cares,
Rest in our praises, rest in our prayers,
So the commandment would we obey,
“Hallow the Sabbath day.”Refrain

[Exo 20:10] Hail, Thou Bright And Sacred Morn
Hail, thou bright and sacred morn,
Ris’n with gladness in thy beams!
Light, which not of earth is born,
From thy dawn in glory streams;
Airs of Heav’n are breathed around,
And each place is holy ground.Sad and weary were our way,
Fainting oft beneath our load,
But for thee, thou blessèd day,
Resting place on life’s rough road;
Here flow forth the streams of grace;
Strengthened hence we run our race.Great Creator, who this day
From Thy perfect work didst rest,
By the souls that own Thy sway
Hallowed be its hours and blest;
Cares of earth aside be thrown,
This day give to Heav’n alone.Savior, who this day didst break
The dark prison of the tomb,
Bid my slumbering soul awake;
Shine through all its sin and gloom;
Let me, from my bonds set free,
Rise from sin, and live to Thee.Blessèd Spirit, Comforter,
Sent this day from Christ on high;
Lord, on me Thy gifts confer,
Cleanse, illumine, sanctify:
All Thine influence shed abroad;
Let me to the truth of God.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] Hail To The Sabbath Day
Hail to the Sabbath day!
The day divinely given,
When men to God their homage pay,
And earth draws near to Heaven.Lord, in this sacred hour,
Within Thy courts we bend,
And bless Thy love, and own Thy power,
Our Father and our Friend.But Thou art not alone
In courts by mortals trod;
Nor only is the day Thine own
When man draws near to God.Thy temple is the arch
Of yon unmeasured sky;
Thy Sabbath, the stupendous march
Of vast eternity.Lord, may that holier day
Dawn on Thy servants’ sight;
And purer worship may we pay
In Heaven’s unclouded light.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] O Day Of Rest And Gladness
O day of rest and gladness, O day of joy and light,
O balm of care and sadness, most beautiful, most bright:
On Thee, the high and lowly, through ages joined in tune,
Sing holy, holy, holy, to the great God Triune.On Thee, at the creation, the light first had its birth;
On Thee, for our salvation, Christ rose from depths of earth;
On Thee, our Lord, victorious, the Spirit sent from Heaven,
And thus on Thee, most glorious, a triple light was given.Thou art a port, protected from storms that round us rise;
A garden, intersected with streams of paradise;
Thou art a cooling fountain in life’s dry, dreary sand;
From thee, like Pisgah’s mountain, we view our promised land.Thou art a holy ladder, where angels go and come;
Each Sunday finds us gladder, nearer to Heaven, our home;
A day of sweet refection, thou art a day of love,
A day of resurrection from earth to things above.Today on weary nations the heavenly manna falls;
To holy convocations the silver trumpet calls,
Where Gospel light is glowing with pure and radiant beams,
And living water flowing, with soul refreshing streams.New graces ever gaining from this our day of rest,
We reach the rest remaining to spirits of the blessed.
To Holy Ghost be praises, to Father, and to Son;
The church her voice upraises to Thee, blessed Three in One.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 20:10] This Is The Day Of Light
This is the day of light:
Let there be light today;
O Dayspring, rise upon our night
And chase its gloom away.This is the day of rest:
Our failing strength renew;
On weary brain and troubled breast
Shed Thou Thy freshening dew.This is the day of peace:
Thy peace our spirits fill;
Bid Thou the blasts of discord cease,
The waves of strife be still.This is the day of prayer:
Let earth to heaven draw near;
Lift up our hearts to seek Thee there,
Come down to meet us here.This is the first of days;
Send forth Thy quick’ning breath,
And wake dead souls to love and praise,
O Vanquisher of death!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 23:16] To Thee, O Lord, Our Hearts We Raise
To Thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise in hymns of adoration,
To Thee bring sacrifice of praise with shouts of exultation.
Bright robes of gold the fields adorn, the hills with joy are ringing,
The valleys stand so thick with corn that even they are singing.And now, on this our festal day, Thy bounteous hand confessing,
Upon Thine altar, Lord, we lay the firstfruits of Thy blessing.
By Thee all human souls are led with gifts of grace supernal;
Thou, who gives us our daily bread, give us the bread eternal.We bear the burden of the day, and often toil seems dreary;
But labor ends with sunset ray, and rest comes for the weary.
May we, the angel reaping over, stand at the last accepted,
Christ’s golden sheaves, forevermore to garners bright elected.O blessèd is that land of God where saints abide forever,
Where golden fields spread fair and broad, where flows the crystal river.
The strains of all its holy throng with ours today are blending;
Thrice blessèd is that harvest song which never hath an ending.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:8] God Himself Is With Us
God Himself is with us: Let us now adore Him,
And with awe appear before Him.
God is in His temple, all within keep silence,
Prostrate lie with deepest reverence.
Him alone God we own, Him our God and Savior;
Praise His Name forever.God Himself is with us: Hear the harps resounding!
See the crowds the throne surrounding!
“Holy, holy, holy,” hear the hymn ascending,
Angels, saints, their voices blending!
Bow Thine ear to us here: Hear, O Christ, the praises
That Thy church now raises.O Thou fount of blessing, purify my spirit;
Trusting only in Thy merit,
Like the holy angels who behold Thy glory,
May I ceaselessly adore Thee,
And in all, great and small, seek to do most nearly
What Thou lovest dearly.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:8] God Is In His Temple
God is in His temple, the almighty Father!
Round His footstool let us gather;
Him with adoration, serve the Lord most holy,
Who hath mercy on the lowly.
Let us raise hymns of praise for His great salvation;
God is in His temple!Christ comes to His temple; we, His Word receiving,
Are made happy in believing.
Lo! from sin delivered, He hath turned our sadness,
Our deep gloom to light and gladness!
Let us raise hymns of praise, for our bonds are severed;
Christ comes to His temple!Come and claim Thy temple, gracious Holy Spirit!
In our hearts Thy home inherit;
Make in us Thy dwelling, Thy high work fulfilling,
Into ours Thy will instilling;
Till we raise hymns of praise, beyond mortal telling,
In the eternal temple!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:8] God Reveals His Presence
God reveals His presence,
Let us now adore Him,
And with awe appear before Him.
God is in His temple,
All in us keep silence,
And before Him bow with reverence.
Him alone, God we own,
He’s our Lord and Savior;
Praise His Name forever.God reveals His presence,
Whom angelic legions
Serve with awe in heav’nly regions:
Holy, Holy, Holy,
Sing the hosts of Heaven,
Praise to God be ever given:
Condescend to attend
Graciously, O Jesus;
To our songs and praises.O majestic Being,
Were our soul and body
Thee to serve at all times ready;
Might we, like the angels
Who behold Thy glory,
In submission sink before Thee;
And through grace all our days
In our whole demeanor,
Give Thee praise and honor!Lord, come dwell within us,
While on earth we tarry,
Make us Thy blest sanctuary.
O vouchsafe Thy presence,
Draw unto us nearer,
And reveal Thyself still clearer;
Us direct and protect,
Thus we in all places
Shall show forth Thy praises.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:22] Approach, My Soul, The Mercy Seat
Approach, my soul, the mercy seat,
Where Jesus answers prayer;
There humbly fall before His feet,
For none can perish there.Thy promise is my only plea,
With this I venture nigh;
Thou callest burdened souls to Thee,
And such, O Lord, am I.Bowed down beneath a load of sin,
By Satan sorely pressed,
By war without and fears within,
I come to Thee for rest.Be Thou my Shield and hiding Place,
That, sheltered by Thy side,
I may my fierce accuser face,
And tell him Thou hast died!O wondrous love! to bleed and die,
To bear the cross and shame,
That guilty sinners, such as I,
Might plead Thy gracious Name.“Poor tempest-tossèd soul, be still;
My promised grace receive”;
’Tis Jesus speaks—I must, I will,
I can, I do believe.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:22] Before Thy Mercy Seat, O Lord
Before Thy mercy seat, O Lord,
Behold, Thy servants stand,
To ask the knowledge of Thy Word,
The guidance of Thy hand.Let Thy eternal truths, we pray,
Dwell richly in each heart;
That from the safe and narrow way
We never may depart.Lord, from Thy Word remove the seal,
Unfold its hidden store,
And as we read, teach us to feel
Its value more and more.Help us to see a Savior’s love
Shine forth from every page,
And let the thoughts of joys above
Our inmost souls engage.Thus, while Thy Word our footsteps guides,
Shall we be truly blest,
And soon arrive where love provides
An everlasting rest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:22] From Every Stormy Wind
From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat;
’Tis found beneath the mercy seat.There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all besides more sweet;
It is the blood bought mercy seat.There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.There, there, on eagles’ wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget the mercy seat!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 25:22] Jehovah, God, Who Dwelt Of Old
Jehovah, God, who dwelt of old
In temples made with hands,
Thy power display, Thy truth unfold,
Where this new temple stands.Vouchsafe to meet Thy children here,
Nor ever hence depart;
From sorrow’s eye wipe every tear,
And bless each longing heart.The rich man’s gift, the widow’s mite,
Are blended in these walls;
These altars welcome all alike
Who heed God’s gracious calls.From things unholy and unclean
We separate this place;
May naught here ever come between
This people and Thy face!Now with this house we give to Thee
Ourselves, our hearts, our all,
The pledge of faith and loyalty,
Held subject to Thy call.And when at last the blood washed throng
Is gathered from all lands,
We’ll enter with triumphant songs
The house not made with hands.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

[Exo 28:29] Now Let Our Cheerful Eyes Survey
Now let our cheerful eyes survey
Our great High Priest above,
And celebrate His constant care,
And sympathetic love.Though raised to a superior throne,
Where angels bow around,
And high o’er all the shining train,
With matchless honors crowned—The names of all His saints He bears
Engraven on His heart;
Nor shall a name once treasured there
E’er from His care depart.Those characters shall fair abide
Our everlasting trust,
When gems, and monuments, and crowns,
Are moldered down to dust.So, gracious Savior! on my breast,
May Thy dear Name be worn,
A sacred ornament and guard,
To endless ages borne.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 31:11] In Thy Holy Place
In Thy holy place we bow,
Perfumes sweet to heaven rise,
While our golden censers glow
With the fire of sacrifice.
Saints low bending, prayers ascending,
Holy lips and hands implore;
Faith believing and receiving
Grace from Him Whom we adore.Holy light doth fill this place,
Spirit light our way to guide;
In the presence of Thy face
Sin and darkness ne’er can hide.
Heaven’s gleaming, fullness streaming,
Life and truth for man is found;
Light pervading, never fading,
Lighting all the world around.On Thy holy bread we feed,
Hunger nevermore to know;
Thou suppliest all our need;
Father, whither shall we go?
Ne’er forsaking, here partaking
Bread our souls to satisfy;
Here abiding and confiding,
We shall never want nor die.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Savior, while my heart is tender,
I would yield that heart to Thee;
All my powers to Thee surrender,
Thine and only Thine to be.Take me now, Lord Jesus, take me;
Let my youthful heart be Thine;
Thy devoted servant make me;
Fill my soul with love divine.Send me, Lord, where Thou wilt send me,
Only do Thou guide my way;
May Thy grace through life attend me,
Gladly then shall I obey.Let me do Thy will or bear it;
I would know no will but Thine;
Shouldst Thou take my life or spare it,
I that life to Thee resign.May this solemn consecration
Never once forgotten be;
Let it know no revocation,
Registered and confirmed by Thee.Thine I am, O Lord, for ever
To Thy service set apart;
Suffer me to leave Thee never,
Seal Thine image on my heart.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 32:26] Who Is On The Lord’s Side?
Who is on the Lord’s side? Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers, other lives to bring?
Who will leave the world’s side? Who will face the foe?
Who is on the Lord’s side? Who for Him will go?
By Thy call of mercy, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!Not for weight of glory, nor for crown and palm,
Enter we the army, raise the warrior psalm;
But for love that claimeth lives for whom He died:
He whom Jesus nameth must be on His side.
By Thy love constraining, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!Jesus, Thou hast bought us, not with gold or gem,
But with Thine own life blood, for Thy diadem;
With Thy blessing filling each who comes to Thee,
Thou hast made us willing, Thou hast made us free.
By Thy grand redemption, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!Fierce may be the conflict, strong may be the foe,
But the King’s own army none can overthrow;
’Round His standard ranging, victory is secure,
For His truth unchanging makes the triumph sure.
Joyfully enlisting, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!Chosen to be soldiers, in an alien land,
Chosen, called, and faithful, for our Captain’s band,
In the service royal, let us not grow cold;
Let us be right loyal, noble, true and bold.
Master, Thou wilt keep us, by Thy grace divine,
Always on the Lord’s side—Savior, always Thine!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 32:26] Who Will Follow Jesus?
Who will follow Jesus,
Standing for the right,
Holding up His banner
In the thickest fight?
List’ning for His orders,
Ready to obey,
Who will follow Jesus,
Serving Him today?Refrain
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
“I am on the Lord’s side;
Master, here am I”?
Who will follow Jesus?
Who will make reply,
“I am on the Lord’s side;
Master, here am I”?Who will follow Jesus,
In life’s busy ways,
Working for the Master,
Giving Him the praise;
Earnest in His vineyard,
Honoring His laws,
Faithful to His counsel,
Watchful for His cause?Refrain
Who will follow Jesus
When the tempter charms?
Fleeing then, for safety,
To the Savior’s arms;
Trusting in His mercy,
Trusting in His pow’r,
Seeking fresh renewals
Of His grace each hour?Refrain
Who will follow Jesus,
In His work of love,
Leading others to Him,
Lifting prayers above?
Courage, faithful servant!
In His Word we see,
On our side forever
Will this Savior be.Refrain

[Exo 32:26] Who’s On The Lord’s Side?
We’re marching to Canaan, with banner and song,
We’re soldiers enlisted to fight ’gainst the wrong;
But, lest in the conflict our strength should divide,
We ask, “Who among us is on the Lord’s side?”Refrain
Oh, who is there among us, the true and the tried,
Who’ll stand by His colors—who’s on the Lord’s side?
Oh, who is there among us, the true and the tried,
Who’ll stand by His colors—who’s on the Lord’s side?The sword may be burnished, the armor be bright,
For Satan appears as an angel of light;
Yet darkly the bosom may treachery hide,
While lips are professing, “I’m on the Lord’s side.”Refrain
Who is there among us yet under the rod,
Who knows not the pardoning mercy of God?
Oh, bring to Him humbly the heart in its pride;
Oh, haste, while He’s waiting and seek the Lord’s side.Refrain
Oh, heed not the sorrow, the pain and the wrong,
For soon shall our sighing be changed into song;
So, bearing the cross of our covenant Guide,
We’ll shout, as we triumph, “I’m on the Lord’s side.”Refrain

[Exo 33:13] As Now Thy Children Lowly Kneel
As now Thy children lowly kneel,
And all for mercy pray,
O Father, make us truly feel
The solemn words we say.Teach us to hate the power of sin,
Which parts our souls from Thee;
Help us to make our life within
What Thou wilt love to see.Teach us to trust the Lamb of God,
Who takes our sins away;
Help us to choose the path He trod,
And so Thy will obey.Teach us to keep Thy holy laws
Because we trust Thy love;
Help us to rise, when Jesus draws
To better joys above.O teach us more our sins to fear
And more Thy Word to love:
Help us on earth the cross to bear
And win the crown above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 33:22] By Faith We Find The Place Above
By faith we find the place above,
The Rock that rent in twain;
Beneath the shade of divine love,
And in the clefts remain.Jesus, to Thy dear wounds we flee,
We sink into Thy side;
Assured that all who trust in Thee
Shall evermore abide.Then let the thundering trumpet sound,
The latest lightning glare,
The mountains melt, the solid ground
Dissolve as liquid air.The huge celestial bodies roll,
Amidst that general fire,
And shrivel as a parchment scroll,
And all in smoke expire!Yet still the Lord, the Savior reigns,
When nature is destroyed,
And no created thing remains
Throughout the flaming void.Sublime upon His azure throne,
He speaks the almighty word;
His fiat is obeyed! ’tis done;
And Paradise restored.So be it! let this system end,
This ruinous earth and skies,
The new Jerusalem descend,
The new creation rise!Thy power omnipotent assume,
Thy brightest majesty!
And when Thou dost in glory come,
My Lord, remember me!Woe to the men on earth who dwell,
Nor dread the Almighty’s frown,
When God doth all His wrath reveal,
And shower his judgments down!Sinners, expect those heaviest showers,
To meet your God prepare;
For, lo! the seventh angel pours
His phial in the air.Lo! from their seats the mountains leap,
The mountains are not found;
Transported far into the deep,
And in the ocean drowned.Who then shall live, and face the throne,
And face the Judge severe?
When heaven and earth are fled and gone,
O where shall I appear?Now, only now, against that hour
We may a place provide;
Beyond the grave, beyond the power
Of hell, our spirits hide.Firm in the all destroying shock,
May view the final scene;
For, lo! the everlasting Rock
Is cleft to take us in.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Exo 33:22] He Hideth My Soul
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.Refrain
With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,

[Exo 34:5] Great God! To Me The Sight Afford
Great God! to me the sight afford
To him of old allowed;
And let my faith behold its Lord
Descending in a cloud.In that revealing Spirit come down,
Thine attributes proclaim,
And to my inmost soul make known
The glories of Thy Name.Jehovah, Christ, I Thee adore,
Who gav’st my soul to be!
Fountain of being, and of power,
And great in majesty.The Lord, the mighty God, Thou art;
But let me rather prove
That name in-spoken to my heart,
That favorite name of Love.Merciful God, Thyself proclaim
In this polluted breast;
Mercy is Thy distinguished name,
Which suits a sinner best.Our misery doth for pity call,
Our sin implores Thy grace;
And Thou art merciful to all
Our lost, apostate race.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

Gently now thy moments run;
Balm to soothe our cares and woes,
Till our labor here is done.Holy day that we most prize,

Day to make the simple wise,

With thy influence all divine,

[Lev 6:13] O Thou Who Camest From Above
O Thou Who camest from above,
The pure celestial fire to impart,
Kindle a flame of sacred love
Upon the mean altar of my heart.There let it for Thy glory burn
With inextinguishable blaze,
[or, Unquenched, undimmed, in darkest days,]
And trembling to its source return,
In humble prayer and fervent praise.Jesus, confirm my heart’s desire
To work and speak and think for Thee;
Still let me guard the holy fire,
And still stir up Thy gift in me.Ready for all Thy perfect will,
My acts of faith and love repeat,
Till death Thy endless mercies seal,
And make my sacrifice complete.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Lev 8:35] A Charge To Keep I Have

My calling to fulfill:
O may it all my powers engage
To do my Master’s will!Arm me with jealous care,
As in Thy sight to live;
And O Thy servant, Lord, prepare
A strict account to give!Help me to watch and pray,

Savior, to Thy mercy seat
Humbly trusting, I draw near;
Now my waiting spirit meet,
Lend to me Thy gracious ear.Thou canst cleanse the vilest stain,

Let no spot of guilt remain,
Wash me in the crimson flood.Savior, hear my earnest prayer,
Now Thy great compassion show;
Let my contrite spirit share

[Lev 16:27] A Song And A Carol For Christmastide
A song and a carol for Christmastide
Of the Prince of the Golden Shore,
Whom armies of light, in their vesture bright,
Love, serve, and adore evermore.
Far, far below, where the sunbeams glow
On a realm of His wide domain,
Sad ruin and woe, hath come through His foe,
With trouble and sorrow and pain.And sad is the sighing when death’s dark wings
Over Paradise darkly loom;
And dark the despair of the lost ones there,
Awaiting their last fatal doom.
When thus spake the Prince to His Father dear—
“Now life with a life I will buy,
Bring help from above for the sons of My love,
For them I will suffer and die!”Away and away to the far off land,
When the fullness of time was come,
Now speedeth the Lord of the Golden Strand
From His fair everlasting home.
So down below, and unstained by sin,
In a manger born will He be;
Thereby a lost world He did enter in,
To set the loved captives free!And bright was the carol, and loud the song
Which burst from the silver sky,
When entering lowly Earth’s sons among
He was seen by the hosts on high.
While song shall resound, as the years go round,
Till the moon and the stars shall cease;
All glory and praise to the Ancient of Days,
And to men be good will and peace!Play source: Cyberhymnal -

I have found a precious resting place
In the shelter of redeeming grace;
Here with joy I see my Savior’s face,
Under the atoning blood.Refrain
Under the atoning blood of the Lamb,
Under the atoning blood of the Lamb,
Safely I am hiding, constantly abiding,
Under the atoning blood.Where shall I the praise of Christ begin?
Gone the heavy burden of my sin!

Under the atoning blood.Refrain
Evil shall not here my soul ensnare;
Tenderly I’m kept with jealous care.
Jesus walks beside me everywhere,
Under the atoning blood.Refrain

Through its merit Jesus saves my soul.

[Lev 19:2] Take Time To Be Holy
Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;
And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.Play source: Cyberhymnal -

By helping those who are in need,
My life on earth is but a span,
And so I’ll do the best I can,
The best I can.Refrain
Life’s evening sun is sinking low,
A few more days and I must go
To meet the deeds that I have done,

And strive to help some troubled soul,
Some troubled soul.Refrain

Is one that’s kind and good and pure;
And so for God I’ll take my stand,
Each day I’ll lend a helping hand,

And journey on with rapid speed;
I’ll help the sick and poor and weak,

Through lonely deeps to heights sublime,
Yet never lose their touch with life,
Its endless round of peace and strife.I pray for tasks that ease the load
On other hearts along the road;

Another Sabbath day has come,
Another week is o’er;
And we, a grateful, happy throng,
Are gathered here once more:
We meet to sing of Jesus’ love,
And bow to Him in prayer,
We meet to read His holy Word,
And learn our duty there.Our Sunday school, our Sunday school;
No place on earth so dear!
How many precious souls have found
The way to glory here;
And now around the shining throne
They wait for us to come
And share with them the fadeless love
Of their eternal home.Oh, may the seed thus early sown
Spring up on goodly ground,
And in our hearts, our souls and lives
May fruit of grace abound—
Immortal fruit, that yet shall bloom
In paradise above,
Where we, with those now gone before,
Shall sing redeeming love.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
