33:11 The Lord’s decisions stand forever;

[33:11]  ¹ tn Heb “the thoughts of his heart for generation to generation.” The verb “abides” is supplied in the translation. The Lord’s “decisions” and “plans” here refer to his decrees and purposes.

[4:28]  ¹² tn Or “had predestined.” Since the term “predestine” is something of a technical theological term, not in wide usage in contemporary English, the translation “decide beforehand” was used instead (see L&N 30.84). God’s direction remains as the major theme.

[3:11]  ¹³ tn Grk “according to.” The verse is a prepositional phrase subordinate to v. 10.

[1:2]  ¹⁴ tn Grk “before eternal ages.”

[1:17]  ¹⁵ tn The first phrase refers to the action of giving and the second to what is given.

[1:17]  ¹⁶ tn Or “All generous giving and every perfect gift from above is coming down.”

[1:17]  ¹⁷ tn Grk “variation or shadow of turning” (referring to the motions of heavenly bodies causing variations of light and darkness).
