[16:43]  1 tn Heb “your way on (your) head I have placed.”

[18:30]  2 tn Heb “ways.”

[18:30]  3 tn The verbs and persons in this verse are plural whereas the individual has been the subject of the chapter.

[18:30]  4 tn Or “leading to punishment.”

[22:31]  5 tn Heb “their way on their head I have placed.”

[23:24]  6 tn Heb “come against.”

[23:24]  7 tn This is the only occurrence of this term in the OT. The precise meaning is uncertain.

[23:24]  8 tn Heb “an assembly of peoples.”

[23:24]  9 tn Heb “I will place before them judgment.”

[23:29]  10 tn The Hebrew term means “labor,” but by extension it can also refer to that for which one works.

[23:29]  11 tn Heb “The nakedness of your prostitution will be exposed, and your obscene conduct and your harlotry.”

[3:11]  12 tn Heb “for the work of his hands will be done to him.”

[4:18]  13 tn Heb “Your way and your deeds.”

[4:18]  14 tn Heb “How bitter!”

[4:18]  15 tn Heb “Indeed, it reaches to your heart.” The subject must be the pain alluded to in the last half of the preceding line; the verb is masculine, agreeing with the adjective translated “painful.” The only other possible antecedent “punishment” is feminine.

[16:27]  16 sn An allusion to Pss 28:4; 62:12; cf. Prov 24:12.

[2:5]  17 tn Grk “hardness.” Concerning this imagery, see Jer 4:4; Ezek 3:7; 1 En. 16:3.

[2:5]  18 tn Grk “in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.”

[2:6]  19 tn Grk “who.” The relative pronoun was converted to a personal pronoun and, because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

[2:6]  20 tn Or “will render,” “will recompense.” In this context Paul is setting up a hypothetical situation, not stating that salvation is by works.

[2:6]  21 sn A quotation from Ps 62:12; Prov 24:12; a close approximation to Matt 16:27.
