  3. Penuhpun setan dunia yang mau menumpas kita, jangan gentar melihatnya; iman tak sia-sia! Penghulu kuasa g'lap, meskipun menyergap, Mustahil 'kan menang; kuasanya ditebang dengan sepatah kata.

• AllahMu Benteng Yang Teguh [KJ.250b]

  1. Allahmu benteng yang teguh, perisai dan senjata; betapa pun sengsaramu, pertolonganNya nyata! Si jahat yang geram berniat 'kan menang; Ngeri kuasanya dan tipu dayanya di bumi tak bertara.

  2. Dengan tenaga yang fana niscaya kita kalah. Pahlawan kita Dialah yang diurapi Allah. Siapa namaNya? Sang Kristus mulia, Tuhan Yang Esa, Panglima semesta. Niscaya Ia jaya!

  3. Penuhpun setan dunia yang mau menumpas kita, jangan gentar melihatnya; iman tak sia-sia! Penghulu kuasa g'lap, meskipun menyergap, Mustahil 'kan menang; kuasanya ditebang dengan sepatah kata.

  4. FirmanNya pertahankan t'rus dan puji hanya Dia! Dengan kuasa Roh Kudus Ia di pihak kita. Kendati hidupmu diambil seteru, Pun harta dan benda, akhirnya kitalah yang punya Kerajaan!

  God, the omnipotent! King Who ordainest Great winds Thy clarions, lightnings Thy sword; Show forth Thy pity on high where Thou reignest, Give to us peace in our time, O Lord. God the all merciful! Earth hath forsaken Thy ways of blessedness, slighted Thy Word; Bid not Thy wrath in its terrors awaken; Give to us peace in our time, O Lord. God the all righteous One! Man hath defied Thee; Yet to eternity standeth Thy Word, Falsehood and wrong shall not tarry beside Thee; Give to us peace in our time, O Lord. God the all wise!   Bride of Christ, whose glorious warfare Here on earth hath never rest; Lift thy voice, and tell the triumphs Of the holy and the blest; Joyous be the day we hallow, Feast of all the saints on high, Earth and Heav’n together blending In one solemn harmony. First the blessèd virgin mother, Reunited to her Son, Leads the host of ransomed people, Who unfading crowns have won; John, the herald, Christ’s forerunner, More than prophet, leads his throng, Seer and patriarch responsive Unto psalmist in their song. Lo, the twelve, majestic princes, In the court of Jesus sit, Calmly watching, while the conflict Rages far beneath their feet; Lo, the martyrs, robed in crimson, Sign of life blood freely spent, Finding life, because they lost it, Dwell in undisturbed content.   The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of Heaven breaks; The summer morn I’ve sighed for—the fair, sweet morn awakes: Dark, dark hath been the midnight, but dayspring is at hand, And glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. O Christ, He is the fountain, the deep, sweet well of love! The streams of earth I’ve tasted more deep I’ll drink above: There to an ocean fullness His mercy doth expand, And glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. Oh! Well it is forever, Oh! well forevermore, My nest hung in no forest of all this death doomed shore: Yea, let the vain world vanish, as from the ship the strand, While glory—glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. But that He built a Heaven of His surpassing love, A little new Jerusalem, like to the one above, “Lord take me over the water” hath been my loud demand, Take me to my love’s own country, unto Immanuel’s land. But flowers need nights cool darkness, the moonlight and the dew; So Christ, from one who loved it, His shining oft withdrew: And then, for cause of absence my troubled soul I scanned But glory shadeless shineth in Immanuel’s land. The little birds of Anwoth, I used to count them blessed, Now, beside happier altars I go to build my nest: Over these there broods no silence, no graves around them stand, For glory, deathless, dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. Fair Anwoth by the Solway, to me thou still art dear, Even from the verge of heaven, I drop for thee a tear. Oh! If one soul from Anwoth meet me at God’s right hand, My heaven will be two heavens, In Immanuel’s land. I’ve wrestled on towards Heaven, against storm and wind and tide, Now, like a weary traveler that leaneth on his guide, Amid the shades of evening, while sinks life’s lingering sand, I hail the glory dawning from Immanuel’s land. Deep waters crossed life’s pathway, the hedge of thorns was sharp; Now, these lie all behind me Oh! for a well tuned harp! Oh! To join hallelujah with yon triumphant band, Who sing where glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. With mercy and with judgment my web of time He wove, And aye, the dews of sorrow were lustered with His love; I’ll bless the hand that guided, I’ll bless the heart that planned When throned where glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. Soon shall the cup of glory wash down earth’s bitterest woes, Soon shall the desert briar break into Eden’s rose; The curse shall change to blessing the name on earth that’s banned Be graven on the white stone in Immanuel’s land. O I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved’s mine! He brings a poor vile sinner into His “house of wine.” I stand upon His merit—I know no other stand, Not even where glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land. I shall sleep sound in Jesus, filled with His likeness rise, To love and to adore Him, to see Him with these eyes: ’Tween me and resurrection but Paradise doth stand; Then—then for glory dwelling in Immanuel’s land. The Bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom’s face; I will not gaze at glory but on my King of grace. Not at the crown He giveth but on His pierced hand; The Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel’s land. I have borne scorn and hatred, I have borne wrong and shame, Earth’s proud ones have reproached me for Christ’s thrice blessed Name: Where God His seal set fairest they’ve stamped the foulest brand, But judgment shines like noonday in Immanuel’s land. They’ve summoned me before them, but there I may not come, My Lord says “Come up hither,” My Lord says “Welcome home!” My King, at His white throne, my presence doth command Where glory—glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

  Here, O my Lord, I see Thee face to face; Here would I touch and handle things unseen; Here grasp with firmer hand eternal grace, And all my weariness upon Thee lean. This is the hour of banquet and of song; This is the heavenly table spread for me; Here let me feast, and feasting, still prolong The hallowed hour of fellowship with Thee. Here would I feed upon the bread of God, Here drink with Thee the royal wine of Heaven; Here would I lay aside each earthly load, Here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven. I have no help but Thine; nor do I need Another arm save Thine to lean upon; It is enough, my Lord, enough indeed; My strength is in Thy might, Thy might alone. I have no wisdom save in Him Who is My Wisdom and my Teacher both in One; No wisdom can I lack while Thou art wise; No teaching do I crave save Thine alone. Mine is the sin, but Thine the righteousness: Mine is the guilt, but Thine the cleansing blood; Here is my robe, my refuge, and my peace; Thy Blood, Thy righteousness, O Lord my God! Too soon we rise; the symbols disappear; The feast, though not the love, is past and gone. The bread and wine remove; but Thou art here, Nearer than ever, still my Shield and Sun. Feast after feast thus comes and passes by; Yet, passing, points to the glad feast above, Giving sweet foretaste of the festal joy, The Lamb’s great bridal feast of bliss and love.

  Life and strength of all Thy servants, Brightness of the Father’s light; Men with angels, earth with Heaven, In Thy praise their songs unite. Thousand thousand warrior princes In Thine angel army stand; Flames the victor Cross before them, Grasped in Michael’s dauntless hand. Hurling back from Heav’n the rebels With the lifting of his sword, In the might of God he tramples On the dragon’s head abhorred.   Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne. Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity. Crown Him the virgin’s Son, the God incarnate born, Whose arm those crimson trophies won which now His brow adorn; Fruit of the mystic rose, as of that rose the stem; The root whence mercy ever flows, the Babe of Bethlehem.   O King of kings, O Lord of hosts, whose throne is lifted high Above the nations of the earth, the armies of the sky, The spirits of perfected saints may give their nobler songs And we, Thy children, worship Thee, to Whom all praise belongs. Thy hand has hid within our fields treasures of countless worth; The light, the suns of other years, shine from the depths of earth; The very dust, inbreathed by Thee, the clods all cold and dead, Wake into beauty and to life, to give Thy children bread.
